Dear Friends,
Walking into a church or a church office for the first time can be one of the hardest things you do and yet it should be the easiest. We all have in mind what “Church” is and here at Our Lady of Fatima, we want to change that. Why? Because if we do not start at the same place, we will all have different expectations; expectations that are rarely communicated and sometimes never fulfilled and thus we start at the wrong place. We invite you to start at the right place. What is the right place?
Right now, at this moment you are welcome to come as you are without judgment, without prerequisites. Why? Because we are all God’s children on a journey and God loves us all equally and wants us all to love one another as he does. It is that simple. It all begins with knowing you are loved and at Our Lady of Fatima that is the only thing you need. We want you here as you are. We will do our best to make sure that everyone is welcome and loved.
It is not easy when we all have so much baggage, but our job is to get rid of the baggage and celebrate our mutual love of God. You have taken the first step and we applaud you. There are many more steps that you can take, and we ask you to consider the following:
1. Join any ministry or service group that you feel called to.
2. Sign up for envelopes or online giving to support our church.
3. Communicate with us as to how we can improve.
4. If you do not see it, do not assume we do not want it: many ministries and services are needed but we do not have the right person or resources. Let us work on fixing that.
5. I have an open-door policy, please take advantage of it as the more we communicate, the better we are all served and loved.
6. Never leave your church without trying to fix what you think is wrong. Solutions and change do not happen without dialogue.
7. Remember the church is served by humans and with our humanity come our flaws. We all have them but can work past them.
8. Never forget you are loved and welcome in this place.
9. Remember one step does not take you to the destination. We are all on a journey. We move at different paces but all going somewhere special.
10. Remember you are a child of God destined for great things and loved.
I thank you for joining us and hope we can enjoy each other’s company and gifts as we journey towards eternal salvation.
In Gratitude and Service,
Rev. Fr. Reginald D. Norman (Father Reggie)
