Parish History

Our Lady of Fatima has a history rich in devotion to faith and Church. Originally, we were a mission of St. Mary's in Norwalk, but during World War II, when gas rationing made travelling more difficult, Mass was made available in our town by a priest who came from St. Mary's in Norwalk. These Masses were held at the American Legion Hall in Wilton Center.

Under the direction of a few leading parishioners, a Site Purchase Committee was formed, charged with the task of purchasing property on which Wilton's own Catholic Church could be built. To purchase our present property, each Catholic family was asked to contribute $19.83. This appeal was an overwhelming success!
